i like it but not very good for racing
SlyFox
11-12-2003, 12:50 PM
Yeah. Its actually very heavy for racing purposes. Its from GPM Racing products. They even have alum. shock towers, knuckles arms front and back, motor plate, gear case etc. If I ever add all those into my b4, I mind as well put a nitro engine into it too. But it is very durable. Can you imagine i crashed into a 1/8 nitro and nothing happened?
rc10gt82
11-12-2003, 12:55 PM

Yes I have been racing at Dirtheaven since you were a wee tike, aournd '90 or so. If you check the past track champions plaque on the wall, I should be on there. I added those two new pics etc.
SLYFOX- dude! I know that shop you went to. Go there now and then. It's on Kwong Wah street off Dundas St. and Waterloo road. That's a good place to buy stuff (the street, not the shop...but the shop is OK).
I don't get much B4 stuff from there because Alum. is too heavy. But I know what you mean by getting out the box. Everytime I ask about B4 stuff the go out the back and get the box so I can have a look through. LOL
SlyFox
11-14-2003, 04:20 AM
Yeah Stealthy... You are right, the shop is just behind the hospital.
I've been all the shops around that area but apparantly that is the only shops that carries B4 stuffs. Where do you get your stuff? Maybe the next time I go H.K I know where to head for.:)
Stealthy Ninja
11-14-2003, 09:57 PM
You can got to Harmony Model (just a few doors down from GPM) or you can go to World Model in Wanchai.
Harmony Model: http://www.harmonymodel.com.hk/
World Model: http://www.worldmodel.com.hk/mainframe.html
Both these shops have SOME B4 stuff. World Model is the better of the two for B4 stuff (because it is the AE distributor) but Harmony has more OTHER stuff (if you can't get it in the other shops, you'll find it at Harmony...I say). Both shops are slightly more expensive than others.

Wide swaths of primary colors were predominant in the '80s, so people call it "old school". In the 90s there were a lot of flames and splatters. Right now the in thing is neon fades.

I haven't even run it yet. Originally I wanted to buy the kit, but we got an such an unbelievable deal on two RTRs(one for my son) that we just couldn't pass it up. I'll probably end up selling the electronics so I can put some better stuff in there. Overall, the build looks great and I'm very anxious to run it so I can compare it to my XXX buggy.

You can use model airplane trim tape and a circle cutter!
Pretty sweet Tasker....
If I run out of Reedy wheel dots, I use the same thing....just cut my own wheel dots out of vinyl, and cut them out on some double-sided carpet tape. Very strong tape, so they won't come off during a run.
nsr250_repsol

Yokomo used to use those as well. That dates back with the gold tub abd flat carbon fiber chassis! they do keep your wheels looking nice though! I used to use them back in the day too.
Yeah nsr......I remember those too. I used to run wheel dots a LOT, and I'm going to start using them again. Running florecent pink like I do helps me see it better anywayz.....;):D
Hopefully I'll have some better, more clear pix.....can't really see the chrome in mine that well....there's chrome seperating all the colors and flames....metal flake in the blue as well. My father-in-law took them for me cause I don't have a scanner yet, but at least I have pix now. ;)

I too have a CP body in the mail now. :D I'm planing a special paint job for those motoGP fans out there who know how special #74 was.
Oh yeah.....cool. RIP #74. Be sure to post it when you get it done.
J.R.'s new Illuzion body's gonna come with two wings so it's gonna be cool. I suggested to him when he was still in the designing stages of it that he make a standard size wing for it, and maybe a high downforce as well. Don't know if this is the route he took, but we'll see soon enough. He's just finishing the final touches on the wings as of the latest intel.

You bet....this guy's awesome. He's got chrome, gold, metallic colors, prism, carbon fibers, and all your other standard or florecent colors. All the stickers on my truck and buggy were done by him. They are all 3 layered. He does great work, and even does full size stock cars and other jobs.

Here's a pic as a reference....sorry they're a little blurry. I know I've already posted it before, but just so you don't have to go back and look for it. I'll have some more pix taken later that are more clear and closer up. All the stickers (some of which you can't see) are 3 layered chrome/pink/blue. The ProLine one that's on the hood directly in front of the front windshield is killer because of it's detail, which you can't really see. Anything you have him make he can make in any size or configuration. All the ones on my body were of a specific size that I requested....gotta love the old school AE's on the wing...;)....I'll run those till doomsday.

JEracing
01-31-2004, 06:35 PM
Huh? A vacuum WHAT??? lol:D
Oh, that's all you do? Well, that just fixes everything....wish I would've known that all along that we all could've made our very own custom bodies! :D ....problem is, I don't think everybody has access to either a bunch of sheets of lexan, and a vacuum former machine. This is why we leave it up to the big shots who do. Might also need some software and computer technology I'm sure to get this done as well.
That's kind of like saying.....you can all have free race cars if you just have access to tons of materials and hundreds of thousands of dollars put into the proper machinery, computers, and the ever super-expensive CAD software for the designing. Let's not forget the engineers we'd have to hire to correctly design a car to begin with that will even work.
Again, better left up to the guys at the factory. :p :D
Just messin with ya a little bit B4 Maniac....it would be nice to have such novelties, but I just don't think those kinds of things are very accessable to most people. By the way, what's "bt of platic" and "vacum voumer"??:\ :)

Nsr repsol, I do alot of differnet types of painting and I save pictures and ideas of color combinations I like. Also being a fan of GP bikes I browsed through and seen his pic and saved it. Excellent colors. I want to do a body for someone in those colors.
Buff, colors arent what define a man, a man defines his colors! You dont have any rainbow stickers too? j/k  Your colors look good together.;)
Kingpin.....Thanks, and no, NO rainbow stickers!!....;):D....I'm married and have a wife and 2 kids with another on the way due in August to back it up....:D....
I hear ya about the colors. I particularly liked the paint job on your ride as well....it's one of my favorites. I love simple paint schemes that look killer. My bodies are very busy so to speak, but I guess that's what I like. I love contrasts of colors such as the pink clashing with the blue....it's all in your face...plus it helps me see the car well going around the track...seriously! :D
I love changing my paint schemes from time to time....keeps things fresh. I always use the same colors, as it's of course a trademark (everybody has something that's their own right?)...something about getting a newly airbrushed body with a new paint job is like Christmas morning.:santa: :D.....
NSR.....yeah, he's still in the process of getting his new site up and running. It's still new and he's got a few things to work out just yet. Just give him a call direct with the phone number I gave you, and he'll be glad to hook you up. (502) 523-6876.....he's out of Charlestown, IN. He also sent me pix of mine through email to show me what they looked like before he sent them, and if they were the right style I was looking for which is cool so you're not guessing that they will be the style you want or not.
Looks like there's plenty of places to go for stickers nowadays! ;)

Kingpin,
I am not a big fan of checker paint on RC bodies at all. But in the Telifonica case I'm doing the paint for another reason and for that I can deal with the checkered scheme. You should check out his replica helmets! I'm going to try to replicate the back of his helmet as best as I can on the wing. Have you seen his AXO paint from 2000? I'll be doing another paint like that bike. It is defiantly my favorite!!! Right now I have 4 different bodies including my new CP body I got in the mail Sat. Basically I really enjoy painting bodies so I do it often just to kill time. I need to get a new body and wing for my enforcer and do a nice paint job on it but that's like over $60 because Custom Works stuff is way over priced. I just painted a Mini-T body up for my nephew so I'll post a pick of that too. I guess I need to start my own gallery. By the way Paul Gibson’s paint is one of my favorite to be posted to date.

If you let it sit too long it will be to hard to get off. So it is better to do it quite a few times. Then get some Aluminum Polish and a dremel. I like to use jewler's rougue because it is very fine for polishing jewelery, but it is hard to find. All my aluminum is stripped and polished. The battery brace is STOCK . The guy who owns one of the LHS got that done for me. I have arms, towers, top plate, battery strap and wheels done in CHROME. As for my battery strap I just use flat head screws and cone washers to hold it down. My wing mounts are stock. I just used a dremel and cut the pin for the clip off and drilled and tapped them. NO MORE BODY CLIPS ANYWHERE!! Thanks for the compliments. You can check out the lets see them uncoversed thread to see my ride w/o the body.

Here is my newest shell.....
its an interceptor..... the person that painted it..... it is her third body. I think I have just found my new painter from here on out. As her third body knocks my three off the charts easily.

James....looks as if you had every view except right side up..... :p
Looks like a Sport B3 I'm guessing? Cool.....although, if you are thinking about racing, or you already are racing, you might want to think about upgrading to a B4.....the B4 is way more tunable, more stable, acellerates harder, is easier to work on, easier to build, easier everything basically.

Buff, I think he now runs a B4, that was his old car.
Looks to be quite well done from what I can tell from the camera angles! I like the colour although the dragons are not really my cup of tea.

Buff - Rich hit the spot, I prefered the B2/3 sport for indoors, I found the shocks were smoother with 3 mip seals inside and no plastic washers. But the dragon was there and every scale was a metalic coulur and changed in the light, and I had it because I lived in Wales (Welsh Dragon etc etc). Besides, how many cars do you see with a paint job like that?
Rich P - Craig Harris sprayed that one for me, he is one of the best racers in Britain, and also one of the best sprayers in Europe.
James....o i c. Hey whatever works, go with it. Very unique paint job by the way.
We've got quite a few great "sprayers" over here in the States as well! ;) .....I personally know of at least 3 guys that are absolutely incredible with an airbrush at my home track, and I would hand them a body any time I need something painted, no matter how difficult it is.
I just wish I personally had those kind of talents, but I'm just not the artistic type. I can come up with some good schemes and ideas, but I just can't transfer them to paper.... My hand won't do what my mind is thinking....kind of like my driving...;) :D
