I'm very new to this, so if this is a stupid question, forgive me (but I need an answer anyway). I have two new cars, an onroad, and the B4. I'd very much like to be able to use the same batteries for both. The road car takes the 3x2 pack. This looks like it would fit in the B4, and since it uses the same motor and electronics as the road car, why would I need to buy more batteries just for the B4?

Basically, what is the difference between the 3x2 and the side by side? Can I use the 3x2 packs?

They are 3000 Ni-MH...

Thanks.

hi, the difference is that a 3x2 saddle pack has 3 batteries connected to 3 batteries by a piece of wire. but a side by side is all 6 batteries connected together without a wire. i dont think you would want to use saddle packs (3x2) in the b4 but hey might work. what kind of on road car do you have? is it possible to use side by side in them? if not, then you could probably use the saddle packs in yer b4 but if i were you i would probably buy a new pack. you're going to do it in the future either way(unlessu leave the hobby soon that is) i hoped i helped you and didnt confuse you too much.

yea and 1 mo' thing. electronics dont really matter about what type of packs you put in your car. it's the layout of the car that tells you wat kind of packs you need.

i run saddle pacs in mine they work fine and are slightly easier to use becasue you can move them slightly more like put the foam bloke in between them to give you another option

If its the layout of the car, is it just size/weight dist? 'Cause that looks like the same either way. The 3x2 fits fine (The packs look the same size). Does the power draw differently?

Still confused...

Oh, and no, I can only use the 3x2 in the other car...

You will have no problem running a saddle in a B4, you could even obtain best of both worlds by placing the first three up front than the foam than the last three in the back for a car that will have more traction front and rear. Spend a little time making sure you solder the wire connecting the 3x2's won't make the pack sit at an angle when you place it in the B4.

i haven't tried saddles in the b4 yet...but in the 4wd it works great
but..u have to have longer wire..which i guess would have more resistance, therefore less punch..but its worth a shot

Are we talking about two different things? The packs I have are two rows of 3 batteries, all wrapped up in a single pack.

Getting more confused by the minute...

Your "3x2" pack is what is called a stick pack, like so:
[][]

You can run it in your B4 with no trouble.

We racers make side-by-side packs like so:
[][][][][][]
because matched cells are sold loose and it's easier to assemble this way.

Some cars take an arrangement called a saddle pack, like so:
[][][]
C
[][][]
What Dave was saying is you can lay these out next to each other and it works more or less a side-by-side pack.

Thank you, that explains it... Don't the better stick packs have matched cells? Just wondering...

A few companies sell them that way but it's not really common.

they also give you so many options the wire is to short to give any resistance so what are you losing eh?
